Reimagining Black Diasporic Identity through the Arts

The Department of African & African American Studies (DAAAS) are pleased to extend an invitation for a panel discussion supported by the Burt McMurtry Arts Initiatives Fund titled "Reimagining Black Diasporic Identity through the Arts" on Wednesday, April 17 at 4:30 PM PST (6:30 PM in Jamaica), which features short films by African & African American Studies majors Osadolor Osawemwenze and Brittany Linus.

This panel is the culmination of a trip to Kingston, Jamaica in October 2023, led by Dr. Katie Dieter, where these students participated in the 7th Annual Rex Nettleford Arts Conference held at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts (EMCVPA) in Kingston, Jamaica. 

Opening remarks will be given by Dr. Katie Dieter, Director of Advanced Studies & Community Engaged Learning in DAAAS and Principal Dorrett Campbell of EMCVPA with a Q & A moderated by Dr. Keino Senior, Dean of the School of Arts Management and Humanities at EMCVPA.
