Minoring in the Department of African and African American Studies (DAAAS)

The minor in the Department of African & African American Studies is designed to add thematic depth to students’ chosen course of study through the choice of three tracks. DAAAS minors must fulfill requirements in each of the following areas. Overall, they are required to complete 32 units to qualify for the minor in the Department of African & African American Studies. 

Minor in African American Studies Track (32 units)

Foundation (17 units):

·      Introduction to Themes in Black Studies I & II (8 units)

·      Foundations in African American Studies I or II (4 units) 

·      African or African diasporic language (5 units) 

Depth (15 units): Self-Designed Thematic Track
