Billy Meneses

DAAAS Peer Advisor

Hi! My name is Billy Meneses and I am a senior studying African and African American Studies and Public Policy with a concentration in Discrimination, Crime, and Poverty Policy. I am originally from Union City, NJ but I currently live in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Some of my research interests are histories of enslavement, Afro-Latinx identity and history, and studying the civil rights movement. I am also interested in civil rights law and social and economic mobility policy. Fun Fact: I used to be on a ballroom dance team in middle school and I was on Los Salseros, the salsa dance team here at Stanford!

Alana Okonkwo

DAAAS Student Archivist

My name is Alana Okonkwo and I am an undergraduate senior majoring in African and African American Studies and Archaeology. I'm passionate about cultural heritage restitution of African art and antiquities as a reparative justice response to colonialism. While working as a DAAAS Student Archivist at the Green Library Archives, I hope to learn more about the history of the departmentalization of AAAS and understand the process of archiving.
