Sequoiah Blaire Hippolyte, Class of 2022

Majoring in AAAS provided support, community, and profound mentorship. As an interdisciplinary artist and scholar, my pursuits in arts and academia were nurtured while still allowing me to take the lead in shaping my unique path in the larger context of Stanford. I took courses that touched on magic, performance, and experimental filmmaking as well as topics of history, policy, and ever-changing socialization across the diaspora. The greatest gift of this program was the mentorship and genuine relationships I cultivated with professors and peers. I now live in Los Angeles and am actively working in film as a Black storyteller, which was fiercely supported and guided by amazing people like Dr. Katie Dieter, Amara Tabor Smith, and Dr. Aileen Robinson. AAAS is where a holistic educational experience can be found and forever treasured.
