“Activism and Racial Justice in America”
Harry Belafonte is a Performer/Civil Rights Activist. His professional career took off with the musical Carmen Jones, and soon, he was burning up the charts with hits like “The Banana Boat Song (Day-O)” and “Jump in the Line.” Belafonte also champions many social and political causes and has earned prestigious accolades such as the National Medal of Arts, one Tony Award, one Emmy Award, and two Grammy Awards.
The St. Clair Drake Memorial Lectures are dedicated to the memory of Professor St.Clair Drake, reowned African American anthropologist and educator, and the founding Director of the Program in African & African American Studies at Stanford University.
