DAAAS Opportunity Summit 2026: AAAS in Media and Technology

The Department of African and African American Studies (DAAAS) invites students to the 2026 Opportunity Summit! 

Our theme this year is African and African American Studies in Media and Technology: Pathways for Change!

You will be part of an interactive workshop where you'll learn how to create application materials that get noticed by employers. We'll cover:

• What employers really want and how to respond to their needs
• Essential resume components and effective formatting (including applicant tracking system compatibility)
• How to showcase your experience using strong action verbs and a proven method for writing impactful bullet point descriptions
• Tailoring strategies that make your application stand out
• Using Gen AI responsibly when crafting application materials
• Cover letter essentials that complement your resume

Thereafter, you will hear firsthand experiences, learn about internships, jobs and post-graduate pathways and connect with peers and professionals navigating careers in media and technology.

Date: Monday February 23, 6-8pm

Dinner and dessert will be provided.
